Wye River

Wye River is situated between Lorne and Apollo Bay, a small town, with access to great surf beaches and popular lookouts. Wye river offers many pastimes including swimming, surfing, fishing and nature of watching.

History

Wye River takes its name from a river in the United Kingdom and was originally called 'The Wye'. In 1882, Alex and Donald MacRae Road from Lorne looking for is place to farm and fish. the two brothers, then cut a track from Wye River to Forest. After only a few years, they abandoned their holdings, due to difficulty of access.
