Kennett River

Kennett River is a small town, located between Apollo Bay and law.

History

The town takes its name from the river in the United Kingdom and was originally called 'The Kennett'. In 1882 Alex MacLennan, of Barham Downs was looking for a suitable place to farm and fish settled at Kennet. Due to difficulties of access after only a few years they abandoned their settlements.the second 't' in the Kennett was added in the 1960s, when a sign was misspelt.
